Prior to becoming a lawyer, my main hobby and favorite sport was martial arts. So that I could be the best competitor I could be, I studied several different styles of martial arts including Tae-Kwon-Do, Goju-ryu Karate, Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. At that time, I believed having a wide base of knowledge was important to developing an effective fighting style.
As a lawyer, I continue to maintain the same belief when it comes to law and fighting for clients. With regard to contract drafting, for example, I think it is important for the attorney drafting the contract to have both litigation and drafting experience. While drafting is the core skill in this case, an attorney with litigation experience would also have firsthand knowledge of which terms can become problematic at a trial or arbitration and can then take steps to word the contract more strategically.
In this way, I will fight hard for our clients using every tool and strategy possible.
(私が弁護士となる前、私の主たる趣味そして好きなスポーツは武術でした。最高の競技者となるべく、私は、テコンドー、剛柔流空手、柔道そしてブラジリアン柔術といった、いくつもの異なるスタイルの武術を学びました。その当時私は、幅広い知識をもつことが効果的な格闘スタイルを極めるため重要であると考えておりました。
このことは法律実務においても同様であると考えております。たとえば契約書作成の場合、訴訟の経験ももちあわせていれば、具体的な契約文言が裁判や仲裁の中でどのような問題となり得るかがわかりますし、さらには、契約書をより戦略的に起案することも可能となります。
私はこのように、できる限りの方法や戦術を用いて依頼者のため最善を尽くす所存です。)
